Tibetan texts concerning laws and legal practices are presented on this website.
These fall into two categories:
THE MEDIEVAL LEGAL TEXTS date from the end of the empire to the formation of the Dalai Lamas' Ganden Podrang government. This website presents summaries, contexts, source references, transliterations, and translations. This material was produced under an AHRC-funded project, Legal Ideology in Tibet: Politics, Practice, and Religion.
THE ZHAL LCE TEXTS date from the late 14th to the 20th century and contain sections known as zhal lce. This website will present summaries, contexts, source references, transliterations, and translations. This material is currently being produced under a John Fell Fund project, Law in Historic Tibet: Translating the Dalai Lamas' Legal Texts.
