The mKhas pa'i dga ston was written by Pawo Tsuglag, a reincarnate lama of the Karma Kagyu sect, between around 1545 and 1564. It presents a history of Buddhism in India and its diffusion in Tibet, along with a history of Tibet, itself, concentrating on the history of the Karma Kagyu.
